  • I am not a bug expert, but this trick works for several weeks to rid yourself of these pesky little nuisance buggers. Use 1/2 cup borax and 1/2 cup icing sugar and mix well. Do not put this powder mixture on grass but place it along driveways or inside your home where ants are seen congregating. Ants are resilient creatures, and soon you’ll see them disappear as they’ll be attracted to the icing sugar to take tid bits to their nest. The borax is the killer, and soon you will see no signs of them for several weeks, but re-apply it later. It is much better solution than harmful chemical sprays that are dangerous to pets and children. Good luck……

      • Mike,

I cannot afford to pay for a blog and thank you for publishing my comments that might help other homeowners. I also use cheap vinegar to eradicate unsightly weeds rather than chemical sprays that can hurt the environment, and have used with success; damaged factory bug window screens(freebie) or reclaimed some as recycled and reuseable to place them layered under my landscaping projects and to top them off with lava rocks, bark mulch or drain rocks. I do not like bark mulch because it is an attractant to bugs and fades over time. The water filters through the layered window bug screens and stops weeds from surfacing and the ones that do pop up (few) they are easily manageable. This Westocast Canadian is no expert but it is much cheaper method than costly landscaping fabric. So we all win with shared information.
