Empire of The Ants – Movie

One of the best ant movies of all time!

If you’re freaked out by ants, count yourself lucky, at least you’re not dealing with some sleazy real-estate developer in the Florida everglades and giant super-smart radioactive ants!

Empire of the Ants with Joan Collins and Robert Lansing (1977) may not be theee perfect movie for ant-phobes, but it IS totally fun.

Empire of The Ants also features John David Carson, aka Jay Spence from Falcon Crest and Pamela Susan Shoop who went on to work on Magnum PI, Murder She Wrote and Knight Rider.

The movie was very loosely based on the short story Empire of the Ants by H. G. Wells.

  • FYI, as a promotional gimmick for the film, theaters would display ant farms in their lobbies – though they weren’t allowed near the concession counters.
  • FYI-2, the director created some of the special ant-effects by shooting magnified images of the Panamanian bullet ant.
